This is a powerful expression of a young Muslim lady about Paris incident. I just happened to sit next to her in a Dinner organized by Montgomery Muslim Community Foundation and thought of sharing this well written letter. My thoughts and prayers are with those who unfortunately became victims of a senseless terrorist act in Paris. It sickens me that we live in an increasingly dangerous society controlled by terrible and violent people. What sickens me even more is that every time a terrorist attack occurs in the world, the peaceful majority of Muslims in the world are having their religion stolen by monsters with a selfish and disgusting agenda.
I feel literally sick and disgusted when ISIS claims what they're doing is in the name of God. I feel angry when Boko Haram and the Taliban violently deny education from young girls and children because I know that Gabriel told Prophet Muhammad pbuh to read the Quran repeatedly when it was first revealed to him. I am sick of terrorist groups pretending to be Muslim when they don't even follow the religion and then ignorant people assume that killing others is what being Muslim is like. They are not one of us and they never will be. Terrorism has no religion.
I am sick of being controlled by the fear that the world hates my people and I over something that isn't even representative of the entire Muslim community. I see hateful speech everywhere and I try not to let it get to my head but it's so difficult when you see hate crimes occur across the Muslim community (and even non Muslims) and attempt to feel like the world doesn't hate you.
I've been blessed to not experience explicit Islamophobic behavior towards me, but it doesn't quell the fear I have especially during these scary times. Hate is such a terrifying thing to project on someone who has no connection to doing things deserving of such hate.
For those who think the peaceful majority of us has not being doing anything when terrorist attacks occur, we have been actively condemning terrorist attacks of all kinds but some people seem to only focus on the vocal and violent minority and cling onto their false perceptions of Islam.
And finally for those who have been supportive of the peaceful Muslim community and fear for our safety and security, it really means a lot to many of us. I thank you for providing me with the relief that there is compassion and love in this world. I think I underestimate how many people there are willing to stand with us and support us since I'm really used to being hated at this point that I don't know if I expect others to stand up for us. But thank you for your support, we really appreciate the love.

# # #American Muslim Institution condemns Paris Terror attacks.
Washington, DC, November 13, 2015 - It has been a difficult evening for the entire humanity to watch terrorists barge in places and shoot people randomly. Over a hundred people have become the victims of terror and another hundred are wounded.
While the French authorities have not formally ascribed responsibility for this act of terror to any particular group - it appears to have been committed by Islamist extremists. Regardless of the religious affiliation the perpetrators may claim, we strongly condemn this heinous terrorist crime.
We applaud the French Police for doing their best to cut down on the loss of innocent lives and finally removing the immediate threat to lives. We stand with the people and Government of France as they deal with this tragic event and bring the people behind this terrorist act to account.
Our thoughts and prayers go out for the victims and their surviving relatives. May God give them immense patience to cope with this tragedy.
As Muslims, we are deeply offended and condemn this act of terrorism against innocent people; they have violated every societal norm as well as the rules laid by the very faith they claim to belong. This is not the act of a Muslim, but of rogues who claim to follow the faith. Quran 5:32 say, "If anyone slays a person, it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people."
We have to tackle this issue head on, and cut the roots of extremism, while we are doing that, prayers and a candle vigil gives us some coherence. The children need to be with us to reassure them that God is a higher power and it gives hope and relief to all of us.
Lighting a candle is telling ourselves that we have taken the first smallest step that we can actually take, and hope and pray to find larger solutions.
Please light a candle wherever you are to show our support to the people of France.
