Ashfaq Ahmed Famous Urdu Quotes

Before we start Ashfaq Ahmed: Famous Urdu Quotes of Ashfaq Ahmed Let me tell you that He is one of the greatest personalities Pakistan has ever had. He was a writer, playwright, broadcaster in Pakistan. He has written and published many books in his lifetime. In his television programs and books, one can find a great deal of knowledge and counseling. I am myself a very big fan of Ashfaq Ahmed. I have learned a lot from him and always consider him to be my teacher.

He was born on August 22nd, 1925, in Garhmukteshwar village, Ghaziabad, British India. Shortly before independence in 1947, he came to Lahore and did his MA in Urdu from the Government College. Ashfaq Ahmed started writing short stories much earlier in his age.  He could also speak Italian since he had for some time stayed in Rome and had joined Radio Rome as Urdu newscaster. He also learned French. He edited an Urdu magazine Dastango and Lail-o-Nihar.

He also authored some 25 books, including a travelogue. His works included novels short stories and play for television and radio as well. He was awarded President's Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for meritorious services in the field of literature and broadcasting. Ashfaq Ahmed had been Director General of the Markazi Urdu Board for some 30 years and held many other prestigious appointments.

Ashfaq Ahmed Grave

Ashfaq Ahmed died on September 7th, 2004, at the age of 79.

Ashfaq Ahmed was not just an average writer as you can learn as well as enjoy his books where you can find his life experiences. One of his greatest hits and my most favorite is Zavia.  Zavia was a television show in which he would share his life experiences and people would ask him questions and share their problems to learn more about the world. Now, you can also get books which hold complete discussions made in that programs; a book is also known as Zavia. We collected Different Urdu Quotes for you here,

Ashfaq Ahmed once shared an experience from his time when he was in the capital city of Italy, Rome. He was a young professor at Rome University. He shares that one summer day he was coming back home from university. It was a sunny afternoon, everyone was home and roads were mostly empty. Finding that no one was around, he took a shortcut on the road which violated a traffic law. There appeared a police officer out of nowhere that then fined him. Now this fine was to be submitted to any post office which for some reasons couldnt be paid by its due date. Now Afshaq Ahmed says that he got a court summon notice on this affronting of law. As he had no other choice, he went to the court though he was very much scared.

There came the judge and Ashfaq Ahmed was called to stand in the balustrade of court. He shared that he had thought of using the unaware foreigner card in his defense. The judge started, you were fined and ordered to pay it to the nearest post office, why didnt you pay it? Do you have any idea how much time and energy you have wasted of police, law, and faculty? You should have been aware of that. Judge a bit rough on him as they always are.

Ashfaq Ahmed in his defense used the foreigner excuse and judge said you speak the language finely, what do you do? He then, embarrassingly, told him that he is a teacher, a professor at Rome University and right at the moment happened that really confused Afshaq Ahmed which he couldnt forget his whole life.

The judge stood up and declaimed that there is a teacher in the court and everyone stood up including the including the faculty, police officers and everyone present. The entire manner of judge changed. He ordered to bring a chair for Ashfaq Ahmed in the balustrade that he must not stand while we sit as he is a teacher. Then the judge stated in a poetical language:

Oh respected teacher! Oh, a teacher who educate the world! Oh, most respected man! You are who ordered us to court and justice, and you taught this knowledge, and it is because of you that we stand today where we are. So, we are bound by your command that we check you according to the discipline established by the court despite we are abashed of it. And we are very sad that we are trailing a teacher, no one is more respected than whom.

Ashfaq Ahmed says that he himself was very ashamed and nervous about what had started and just wanted to get out of there. I said to do what your law and regulations say and I am here for it.

It is a very painful occasion for a judge that a teacher is trialed in the balustrade of his court. So, with the extreme of shame, grief, and sadness, we are canceling the fine said the judge.

Ashfaq Ahmed's subtle sense of humor is reflected in his long-running radio programs and characters like "Talqeen Shah", while several TV drama series based on his memorable plays of three decades ago are still enjoyed by the audience. Their appeal lies in the universal truths of life portrayed in human hopes, emotions, aspirations, and relationships that touch the soul of people of all age groups. His popular TV plays include Aik Muhabbat Sau Afsanay [Bunch of Love Stories], Uchhay Burj Lahore Dey [Barbicans of Lahore], Tota Kahani [Story of the Parrot], Lekin [But], Hairat Kadah [Incredibility] and Mun Chalay Ka Sauda [Bargain of the Stubborn]. All through his life, Ashfaq Ahmad endeavored to reform the society through his writings. He had authored over twenty-five books including a travelogue, Safar dar Safar [Long Way Journey], with an atypical style. In fact, he gave a new mold to diction and locale situations, many of his fans would fondly remember. He used Punjabi literary works very well in Urdu and introduced a new kind of prose, which was unique to him. For his excellent literary work, he was awarded President's Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for meritorious services in the field of literature and broadcasting.

Besides his personality as a great author of impressive and laudable books, Ashfaq Ahmed, in his later period of life, was greatly inclined towards Sufism, which was visibly reflected in most of his works. His close association with Qudrat Ullah Shahab and Mumtaz Mufti was also attributed to this tendency. Of-late, he used to appear in a get together with his fans in television's program 'Baittakh' [The Guest Room] and 'Zaviya' [The Dimension] wherein he gave swift but satisfying responses to each and every query, placed before him, explicitly by the youth of each gender, in a mystic style.
